The Park PMC100 100 watt head

a mint PMC100 is available at la vintage gear, otherwise they are sold out!

The PMC100 is a newly built limited-edition of the first version of the EL34 equipped 100 watt “M” style amps made famous in 1967 and 1968 by many of the major guitarists of the day. Original production in 1967 was very small therefore they are very rare and hard to come by. The new PMC100 is true to the original with some small but significant upgrades designed to improve quality and reliability. in addition the massive sound the amp produces has been enhanced with some small but important circuit changes. Parts were sourced to make sure that the amp sounds, feels and looks like a vintage original. based on the Super bass, It has a wonderful sound somewhere between the KT66 version and the typical plexi EL34 based 100W amps produced from 1968 and later. The best of both worlds! It is capable of full sounding clean sounds and harmonically rich overdrive tones with loads of headroom and a big bottom end that blooms as notes are sustained. The PMC100 uses oversized transformers like its KT66 predecessor that produce guitar tones like no other amp. At 85 watts clean and 136 watts full bore it is a bit more powerful than the previous KT66 version.

Quote from owner of Park PMC serial number 2 of 5: “Hello Mitch, my name is Mike Bove. I'm up the Seattle area. I was fortunate to buy this lovely, amazing in every way, PMC 100 you built. It's serial #2. I bought this from Clif Jones. He was/is awesome as always. I wanted to personally thank you for this wonderful amp. I have only had it a few days, but I'm simply amazed at this design, and build quality. Thank you for the many years of inspiration this amp will surely bring. Cheers to you and your team!”

While the vintage versions of this amp are great they were transitional between the previous KT66 equipped amp and the later more aggressive “plexi” 100W amps.  As such there was room for improvement. This is that finely honed and improved version. It has all the benefits of the larger transformers and a few small but critical changes bring out the best possible tone and feel. With tweaks designed by Mitch Colby this new version of a classic has become a monster. In addition Mitch has added a back panel Post Phase Inverter Master Volume (PPIMV) so you can enjoy the amp’s overdriven tones at lower volume levels.

This limited edition version features hard to find parts such as new old stock (NOS) Piher and Allen Bradley resistors, NOS Lemco and Phillips/Mullard “mustard” capacitors, brown Paxolin circuit boards with split turrets and Merrin clone transformers. All this was done in order to recreate the tone and feel that made all vintage Park amps some of the most collectible and coveted by tone aficionados and collectors alike. The construction and cosmetics are the same as the original including aluminum chassis, laced wiring, offset Park block logo and “banana” knobs. However, we've also updated it for reliability and convenience. Improved features include a much stronger aluminum chassis with welded corners, heavy duty output transformer brackets, double top vents for improved air flow, the internal fuse was brought to the exterior and the insanely high voltages have been slightly tamed for longer tube life and reliability. Custom designed Merren power and output transformers top off this sonic beauty.

Only FIVE of these limited amps will be built by Mitch Colby in his New York workshop. They are exclusively available through Clif Jones at LA Vintage Gear.
